A comedy of character set in a Home for Elderly Gentlewomen.
The residents, Matron and over-worked Helper find the even tenor of their existence disrupted by Mrs. Lansdown, a snobbish, over-bearing inmate. When she endeavours to rid the Home of pleasant Mrs. Smith, whom she finds socially unacceptable, the story comes to a dramatic climax. Not Mrs. Smith but the snob has to leave, and the Home resumes its peaceful existence.
