Old Aunt Mary dies, leaving a will bequeathing her money (?20) and belongings to Jean Wylie, a neighbour who has looked after her. Her nieces

 

have each to choose some article from her house as a keepsake -- with the exception of an old chest which she wishes Jean Wylie to keep. Jessie, the eldest, is determined to get this old chest in which she thinks there is money or valuable jewellery. After a battle which mounts to fever heat, Jessie obtains the chest but with disappointing results. All parts provide good scope for acting. There are moments of tense drama and moments of riotous comedy. The play won the Anstruther-Gray Cup at the S.W.R.I. Festival of 1957.
