A distant relative has succeeded to a Highland Castle, and discovers a locked room about which the attendants are evasive. An old retainer recounts to an American lady visitor stories of the room and a stairway to the sea from a balcony. In spite of warnings the new chieftain resolves to remain in the room, and there is an impressive and unexpected climax.
