Item details

Some ingenuous remarks by Hughie, a very young, very raw, but very likeable Clydeside apprentice, precipitate a crisis of nerves among the occupants of a Highland youth hostel, frustrated by a period of rainy weather. In spite of the protests of teenager Isobel and straight-laced schoolteacher Christine Fraser, Miranda a scheming American visitor, tries to turn the resulting breach between student Ian McKelvie and his sweetheart Stella to her own advantage. The play has an unusual set, and provides opportunities for colourful and unconventional costume, and some interesting lighting. The very varied and well-contrasted characters are involved in situations, both comic and dramatic, which give good scope for acting.
