A party is being held to celebrate Mrs. Morrison's eightieth birthday. The old woman is in great form and there is an atmosphere of friendly enjoyment, enlivened by sharp exchanges between Mrs. Morrison and her niece, Susan.

Susan is long-suffering but finally stung beyond endurance by the old woman's sharp tongue, she retaliates and delivers some home truths. This breaks up the party, but it makes the old woman realise her selfishness and she resolves to show more consideration for others in future.
